About Lake Genius – Built by Boaters, for Boaters

Lake Genius started with a simple frustration: the apps that were supposed to help us on the water didn’t actually understand the lakes we boat on. So we built something better.

Our Story

We’re a Utah-based team under Lenzmark LLC, and we’ve spent years boating on the lakes our app covers. Lake Genius actually grew out of a hunting app – Lenzmark’s original product included a Photo Marker feature that let hunters snap a photo and pin it to a map. When we started applying that same idea to lake navigation, we realized there was a much bigger problem to solve.

The boating apps available at the time were either too expensive, too generic, or built for ocean navigation. They shipped with static contour maps that hadn’t been updated in months. Meanwhile, the water levels on our lakes were changing constantly – and every drop in level meant new underwater hazards that no app was showing.

We got frustrated. So we built the app we wished existed: one that updates underwater hazard data daily, focuses specifically on the lakes we know, and works offline in the canyons and remote stretches where cell service doesn’t reach.

We’ve Lived This

This isn’t abstract for us. We’ve personally dealt with the problems our app solves:

Difference

Why We Built Lake Genius

Every feature in Lake Genius exists because we needed it ourselves. The X-Ray View exists because we needed to see underwater hazards before they cost us thousands. Daily water level updates exist because static data from last month isn’t good enough when levels are changing every day. Offline maps exist because most of Lake Powell has zero cell coverage, and an app that only works with a signal isn’t much help on the water.
We didn’t set out to build a worldwide boating app. We set out to build the best possible tool for the lakes we know and love – and we’re expanding into new lakes as we grow. That focus means better data, more relevant points of interest, and features designed around how lake boaters actually spend their time.

MARINAS & BOAT RAMPS

Trusted by Marinas & Boat Shops

We don’t just claim to know these lakes – the people who work on them every day trust us too. Marina operators recommend Lake Genius to their customers because they see the damage from underwater hazards firsthand and know how much a daily-updated tool can help.

Antelope Point Marina at Lake Powell – the owner and manager are actively engaged and supportive of Lake Genius. They recommend the app to boaters heading out on the water.

Boat shops across the region – from Utah to Las Vegas to Phoenix – confirm that $5,000 to $10,000+ repair bills from underwater hazard strikes are routine. They’ve seen the damage, and they understand why daily hazard detection matters.

“The changing water levels and hidden underwater hazards make it essential for boaters to stay informed and aware of their surroundings. Everyone wants a safe, enjoyable experience on Lake Powell, and Lake Genius makes that possible.”
